Light Show Exhibition at Auckland Art Gallery

We were so excited to immerse ourselves in the wonder of light at Auckland Art Gallery! The whole experience was an exciting visual high...vibrant, colorful and playful.

From ethereal installations to abstract sculptures that you could move through, the Light Show featured the wonder of light in all of its spatial and sensory forms. We found ourselves surrounded by stunning glowing environments that played tricks on our mind, as well as our eyes.

Leo Villareal’s Cylinder II piece attracted a lot of attention. It consisted of 20,000 LED lights hung in a cylindrical shape that featured constantly changing shapes and patterns moving rhythmically.  Some of the patterns resembled meteor showers, some were like fireworks and others felt like a dark glowing cave.

Combining technology and creativity and unified by the theme of light, each piece expressed the individuality of the artist.
